Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re considering hypnobirthing in Bromsgrove, you may have questions about when to start, whether hypnobirthing is right for you and how it can complement your existing antenatal preparation. Here are some of the questions I’m asked most often.
-
Hypnobirthing is a way of preparing for birth that combines education with breathing, relaxation, visualisation, affirmations and hypnosis techniques.
Rather than focusing only on what may happen during labour and birth, hypnobirthing also helps you prepare for how you want to feel. We explore any fears or concerns you may have around birth and develop practical techniques to help you feel calmer, more confident and more in control.
My hypnobirthing courses in Bromsgrove are designed to give you tools that you can practise throughout pregnancy and take with you into labour, birth and beyond.

Absolutely! An antenatal course and a hypnobirthing course can complement each other really well.
An antenatal course typically focuses on educating you about pregnancy, labour, birth and the early days with your baby. Hypnobirthing takes a different approach, focusing on your emotional preparation and giving you techniques to help you manage fear, tension and anxiety around birth.
We explore where your fears may have come from and use breathing, relaxation, visualisation, affirmations and hypnosis to help you develop a calmer and more positive mindset around birth.
Think of it as preparing both for what may happen during birth and for how you want to feel while it is happening.
-
You can start hypnobirthing at any stage of pregnancy, but the earlier you begin, the more opportunity you have to practise the techniques and become familiar with your hypnosis tracks.
As a rough guide, many people begin standard antenatal classes around 28 weeks. With hypnobirthing, however, there is no need to wait until then.
Starting earlier gives you plenty of time to practise your breathing and relaxation techniques and incorporate them into your everyday life.
But if you’re already approaching your due date, don’t worry! It’s never too late to learn hypnobirthing techniques. Even with less time to practise, you can still learn valuable tools to support you during pregnancy, labour and birth.
-
Yes! No two pregnancies and no two births are the same — something I experienced first-hand myself.
If you have given birth before, you may already know what you would like to do differently this time. You may also have questions, worries or emotions from a previous birth that you would like to explore.
If you would like to refresh your knowledge and learn practical hypnobirthing techniques, the Workshop Retreat may be a good option.
If you want to explore a previous birth experience in more depth and prepare emotionally for your next birth, a one-to-one hypnobirthing course in Bromsgrove may be more suitable.
Previous clients have found this personalised approach helpful when reflecting on their previous birth experiences, making sense of what happened and feeling more prepared for their next birth.
-
Absolutely.
Hypnobirthing isn’t only for people planning a vaginal birth. Birth can be unpredictable, which is why planned and unplanned caesarean births are covered within the group hypnobirthing course.
Breathing, relaxation and affirmation techniques can be useful during a caesarean birth too, helping you to remain calm, grounded and connected to your experience.
If you already know that you are having a planned caesarean birth, a one-to-one hypnobirthing course may be particularly suitable. This allows us to tailor the sessions specifically to you and focus on preparing for your planned caesarean and the experience surrounding it.

Yes! If you’re looking for something more gentle than a full hypnobirthing course, you’re very welcome to join my women-only Pregnancy Relaxation Group in Bromsgrove.
This weekly pregnancy relaxation group is a chance to pause, slow down and connect with yourself and your baby.
Each session includes a birth top tip, time to create positive affirmations and a guided meditation. It’s a gentle opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life, connect with your baby and feel calmer, lighter and more confident as you approach birth.

As an independent hypnobirthing practitioner, I have created my course to be personal rather than one-size-fits-all.
No two courses are exactly the same.
I adapt each hypnobirthing course around the individual circumstances, needs and preferences of my clients. Before your course, you’ll complete a questionnaire that gives me the opportunity to understand more about you, your pregnancy, your hopes and any concerns you may have.
Your hypnosis scripts are then bespoke to you, written and recorded by me based on the information you share.
There is a significant amount of work behind the scenes that goes into creating a truly personalised hypnobirthing experience, and this is reflected in the course pricing.
My hypnobirthing course also incorporates biomechanics for birth, exploring different ways of working with your pregnant and labouring body to support you and your baby as your baby moves through the pelvis and birth canal.
Ultimately, my aim is to give you more than information about birth. I want you to leave feeling informed, prepared, calm and empowered, with practical techniques that you can carry with you into your birth experience.
